is it hard to teach yourself to play guitar?

<< HELP! how can you teach yourself guitar easily?? ? Is the guitar a relatively easy instrument to teach yourself? >>
i want to learn to play but not have lsoons and was wondering if it was hard to teach yourself?
It is far much better to get lessons. Why? Well because it is scientifically proven that when you learn things RIGHT the first time, your more likely to remember it and suceed at it. For some people, teaching themselves is a real struggle. For others it is natural talent. If you can, find a friend, teacher, or family member that plays guitar or another instrument too. That is what I did. I discovered that my cousin&uncle both play guitar. And they have been teaching me little things. It is really fun once you get the hang of it! Good luck;

dude i tried learning on my own and didnt have any success. i want to take lessons just dont have the time. u might be able to…some people have a knack for certain things and your knack could be guitar…good luck!

My advice is to seek lessons and expand from there. There is a tremendous amount of learning required at the beginning that is fun and easy when someone helps you to learn it. Without a teacher, it's like trying to learn how to speak Spanish by listening to a Spanish radio station. This approach will take you much longer to grasp the basic knowledge you'll need to become a good player. And unless you are good, it just isn't fun. So go get some lessons! Practice for a couple of years, join a band, write some great songs, become famous and give this same advice to someone else someday ;-D
And the guys who don't take lessons and tell you it's easy will be the guys in the audience saying "Whoa…that guy shreds!"

for my case, i have had lessons, and before i attended it i knew how to play some tunes and went i went for the lessons i felt that the lessons sucks it not gunna teach me anything so now im teaching myself guitar and i must say it's pretty easy
